Artist Statement

Intuition and spontaneity guide me in my painting as I improvise and experiment with forms, gestural lines and colors. I select, construct, deconstruct and reconstruct what works. Entering into a dialogue with the painting in progress, I listen to what it needs. When I first began to paint, I used the outside world as inspiration. Switching to interior ways of expression has enabled me to paint more freely. Embracing another zone of consciousness, I am completely absorbed in the painting process, a wonderful change from everyday reality.
